L ‘Agopuntura con il laser
Quanti tipi di agopuntura esistono? Sicuramente molti, ma la domanda è mal posta.
Questo perché l’azione terapeutica è esercitata dal punto e solo marginalmente collegabile a quelle che sono semplici modalità di stimolazione.
Possiamo così trattare il punto con gli aghi, ed esercitare un’azione su base meccanica ed elettrica (in genere gli aghi sono bimetallici e la differenza di potenziale fra manico e lama genera una debole corrente elettrica)
Possiamo collegare l’ago ad un generatore di corrente elettrica e stimolare il punto con frequenze ed ampiezze d’onda specifiche. Parleremo allora di elettroagopuntura
Possiamo scaldarlo con calore indiretto, mediante la combustione di un’erba, l’Artemisia vulgaris. Parleremo allora di Moxibustione.
Potremo massaggiarlo, generalmente con la punta delle dita, praticando la digitopressione.
Queste sono le modalità principali. Ne manca però una. La Laser agopuntura, che stimola i punti mediante la luce.
Il termine LASER è un acronimo che deriva dall’inglese Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. La caratteristica della luce laser è la coerenza e la monocromaticità, con ciò intendendosi che questo tipo di luce è polarizzata ed hanno un solo colore. Esistono vari tipi di laser, da quelli chirurgici a quelli a bassa potenza (LLLT), utilizzati per la biostimolazione. I laser per agopuntura sono di questo tipo. La luce emessa dai diodi innesca a livello del punto di agopuntura delle interazioni fotochimiche.
Secondo vari autori, la LLLT induce le seguenti reazioni a livello cellulare ed extracellulare:
stimolazione dei mitocondri con aumento dell’ATP
stimolazione dei fattori di trascrizione ed aumento della sintesi di DNA ed RNA
aumento della microcircolazione
Dopo la prima applicazione medica risalente agli anni ’60 del secolo scorso, vari ricercatori, soprattutto di lingua tedesca si sono dedicati all’applicazione dei laser a bassa potenza sui punti di agopuntura. La crescita dei lavori scientifici è stata considerevole e oggi nella Banca Dati del Congresso Americano – la più grande raccolta di pubblicazioni di carattere medico al mondo, alla data del 4 giugno 2022 troviamo ben 1145 lavori scientifici pubblicati, condotti in tutti i campi di applicazione dell’agopuntura.
I vantaggi della laser agopuntura sono essenzialmente due:
esatta quantificazione dell’energia somministrata in Joule, quindi parametri oggettivi
soprattutto, completa assenza di qualunque dolore o sensazione fastidiosa.
Questo secondo aspetto rende la metodica particolarmente adatta ai pazienti che mal sopportano gli aghi, ai bambini o per quelle patologie dove si richiede il trattamento di tessuti particolarmente sensibili o infiammati (fasciti plantari, spine calcaneali, noduli di Heberden, ecc.).
Normalmente il ciclo di terapia consta di 8 sedute, della durata di 20 minuti ognuna.
